Henrichsen Siegel Wins Sex Harassment Jury Verdict

Henrichsen Siegel Wins Sex Harassment Jury Verdict in Favor of Client for Workplace Hostile Environment

On Friday, August 12, 2016, after a 4-day jury trial in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, Atlanta Division, Henrichsen Siegel’s client was awarded a six figure judgment against a large corporation for Title VII sex harassment. The case involved an employee’s experience of sex harassment at work in a corrections facility over a number of months. It was alleged that the company failed to promptly take remedial measures to correct the hostile work environment perpetrated against a female corrections officer. The jury awarded punitive damages against Corrections Corporation of America in the amount of $100,000, finding that the company’s disregard of the plaintiff’s rights under Title VII had been malicious and with reckless indifference to her federally protected rights. Trial attorney Neil Henrichsen stated: “The long battle in this case resulted in the company being held accountable for allowing a hostile environment on account of gender to exist without taking prompt action. We respect and applaud the jury’s findings.” Jury Verdict
